I bought this as an optional light small camera for travel, but it's going back. I think that the lenses are probably great, but the sensor just cannot deal with low natural light. I am not talking dark here. I mean low inside daylight, with my front door open. I can get many usable pictures with my D3100 using a comparable f lens in this lighting and no flash. The flash also leaves a bit to be desired as well. It's not very powerful and just leaves things looking sterile, and since you have no option to add one, you kind of are stuck. At this price point, I'd HIGHLY recommend the D3100 kit with 18-55mm. It's honestly not all that much heavier or bigger and you get SOOOOOO much more for the money. It's the smallest and lightest DSLR Nikon makes and WELL worth every penny. Add a 35mm f 1.8 for travel and night shots and you will find yourself saying "Nikon 1, what is the point?"
