With this camera, Sony has come to maturity in the prosumer space. I own an a100 and an a300 (the a100 I already gave to my daughter who's also getting into photography). Now for some reason, Sony is not selling a580 in the Philippines so I had to get this from Amazon. But anyway, I only had to spend about a day with this camera to say that it's worth the $$ that I spent. So now what do I like about this product: - much lighter and quieter than the a300
- shoots faster
- the power switch is now conveniently located at the shoot button so no need to take your eyes off your subject when you realized you haven't turned on the camera yet
- more megapix... not that you really need more but it's just nice to have
- bigger LCD screen
- now shoots movie and panoramic shots
Alright so maybe some might be asking why I didn't go for a33 or the a55. Well, I do studio shoots too and if you're familiar with studio setups you know that live views either through the LCD or the electronic viewfinder do not work well.
