We did research through Consumer Reports prior to purchasing, and this camera came highly recommended. After using it for a month now, I can verify that it is well worth the purchase. For the value (cheaper than the T3i, T2i, T1, and T1i), I don't notice any drop in quality. The pictures are phenomenal, and anyone who's used a simple digital camera in the past will have no problem figuring this one out. Easily one of our best family purchases in years.
