I purchased this camera recently after a lot of research on the best cameras for low-light environments (was also interested in other photo environments, but low-light environments without flash was one of the most important "features" to me). I've since taken over 2,000 pictures and have been very happy with the results. Even though it's a lot bulkier than a compact point-and-shoot camera I use it a lot to take pictures of my 10 month old son since it's great for tricky light situations and resets just about instantly. It may sound odd, but we run a "ghost tour" (in Fort Collins, Colorado) and this is one of the cameras I use to get certain affects in extremely low-light conditions (e.g. tunnels, basements, and structures without electricity). Going for a more "ghoulish" look I was actually a little frustrated at first at how remarkably clear and "normal" I could get pictures from the T3 when I really tweaked the manual settings! If you get this camera and really want to master all that it has to offer, I also recommend picking up the Course Technology book on the T3 by David Busch (ISBN-13: 978-1-4354-6026-3).
