I spent a week reading reviews and checking out the difference of this camera to the T2i, at the time the T3i was not out yet. Everything I read said that this camera was just as good as the T2i. Yes the T2i is an 18mega pixel camera but also everything I read said that at that high of a mega pixel you will not see the difference in just everyday pictures that, even if you want to print out 8X10 photos you will not see the difference. I was not planning on doing a lot of video with this camera just taking many many sport photos of my children and portrait shots along with just plain everyday if you need a camera shots birthdays and what not. I did not know jack about taking professional looking photos I still do not know much so this is my beginner camera, and it does great! I truly do not believe it is the camera that makes the picture it is the lens and the person running the camera. I am glad I started out with this camera because the settings are fairly easy to learn. The battery life I think is amazing I can take days and days worth of pictures and not have to charge the battery. I think it is pretty sturdy, I did drop it a couple months after buying it. I cracked the LCD, I searched online and was able to find a screen and the tape glue for it. My husband was able to take out the cracked one and put the new one in. It looked easier then what it was but it was worth it. I spent I think 35.00 instead of sending it to canon and paying a couple hundred. If you are just beginning to learn about photography and you love taking picture I think this camera for the price is a great first SLR.
