I got this D3000 after spending two years with my point and shoot.Believe it or not with a telephoto lens and a 50 mm prime which I got later it just keeps amazing me.I am not a pro and I do believe there are more things available in the high end cameras available now in Nikon brand.My wife has also taken amazing good pictures with this particularly the landscapes ,night pictures and portraits.I do like the simple functions and guide mode that was my tutor to the DSLR world.Long live D3000.
